FORT WORTH -- Dino D. Cimma, 90, beloved husband of 67 years of Josephine Rose Cimma, passed away at home Wednesday, July 30, 2014.
There will be a memorial service and celebration of his life at 10:30 a.m. Sunday in the Fort Worth Botanic Garden Center's Iris Room.
Memorials: In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his memory to The Arc of North Carolina, 343 E. Six Forks Road, #320, Raleigh, N.C. 27609.
Dino was born April 14, 1926, in Paterson, N.J. He was an ROTC graduate of Tufts University, where he played both football and lacrosse. He went on to be an officer in the U.S. Navy. He served his country in both the Pacific theater during World War II and in Korea. Dino and Rose moved to Texas to be closer to family in 2012. He spent most of his life as a resident of New Jersey, where he was also a loving father to three daughters and launched a successful career as a business executive for a Swiss-based company. His career led him to relocate and then retire in 1987 in Greensboro, N.C., where he and Rose made many friends and enjoyed 41 years together. Throughout his life, he was very devoted to his special-needs daughter, Diana, and he ultimately became the president for the ARC of North Carolina and lobbied for the rights of people with disabilities.
Dino loved to travel and shared this passion with his family, creating memorable family reunions in many exotic and far-away destinations. He was passionate regarding his love for living life to the fullest, for helping others and mostly for his family.
Survivors: He is survived by Rose; three daughters, Diana, Lora and Claudia and her husband, Robert McKenney; five grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
