FORT WORTH -- Henry Mark Anthony, 93, dedicated husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, uncle, brother-in-law, friend and World War II veteran, passed away Wednesday, July 16, 2014.
Celebration of life: 9:30 a.m. Saturday in Greenwood Chapel. Interment: Greenwood Memorial Park. Visitation: 5 to 7 p.m. Friday at Greenwood.
Memorials: In lieu of flowers, please honor Mark with a donation to the Building Fund of Birchman Baptist Church, where he was a member for over 60 years; the Gary Sinise Foundation; or a charity of choice.
Mark was born May 21, 1921, in Tahoka as the baby brother to three older sisters. Mark was a hard-working man who always seemed to have a job. He served our country as a turret gunner on B-29 bombers in the Pacific with the 311th Recon Wing of the Army Air Corps during World War II. He continued defending our country by making B-24, B-36, B-58, F-111 and F-16 military aircraft for 44 years at General Dynamics/Lockheed Martin. After retiring in 1984, he enjoyed his retirement career as a jeweler in his home workshop.
For over 60 years, Mark was a dedicated husband to Marguerite. Together they raised E. Mark "Eddy," Dean and Glen in Fort Worth. He taught the boys the value of hard work and frugal money management. He taught his grandchildren the value of family time by hosting vacations that gathered all the families together for weeks of travel throughout the years. He showed us all a picture of dedication as he cared for Marguerite's every need as her health gradually declined through her 30-year illness.
At the age of 83, Mark married Ruby Edwards and was able to share his love of travel for many more years with his new love. He was a jovial man who enjoyed life, people and travel.
Survivors: Wife, Ruby; children, Mark Anthony and wife, Gail, Dean Anthony and wife, Shelley, and Glen Anthony; grandchildren, Tamara, Keith, Sarah and Meredith; great-grandchildren, Kobi and Makayla; stepsons, Greg and Joe John Edwards; six stepgrandchildren; and five stepgreat-grandchildren.
