FORT WORTH -- Jill VanHoy, beloved daughter, sister, aunt and friend, passed away, Friday, July 4, 2014.
Graveside service: 10 a.m. Friday, July 18, in Greenwood Memorial Park.
Memorials: In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to an animal adoption or rescue of choice.
She was born May 7, 1949, into a proud U.S. Air Force family. The middle daughter of three, Jill was a reliable voice of objectivity, balanced with solicitude. She was a voracious seeker of knowledge, earning a bachelor's degree in animal science from TTU and a master's degree in library sciences from TWU.
After family, Jill's greatest love was for her horses and dogs. She was a longtime member of the U.S. Equestrian Federation, as well as the U.S. Dressage Federation, where she was an L judge and teacher to aspiring and accomplished equestrians alike. Earlier in life, Jill raised champion Dobermans. She carried her passion for dogs through the rest of her time on earth, taking in several rescues over the years and providing them with warmth, love and compassion.
Jill was predeceased by her father, Col. Lonnie E. VanHoy.
Survivors: She is survived by her mother, Eileen; sisters, Jackie and Judy; nephews, Matthew, Mark and Zachariah; great-nephews, Cooper, Maddox and Gunner; dearest friends, Donna and Joyce; beloved horse, Tuxedo; and her dogs, Chigger and Murphy.
