BENBROOK -- Robert "Bob" William Whiting, 85, went to his Heavenly Father's home Wednesday, Aug. 13, 2014, peacefully with his beloved wife, Joan, at his side.
Funeral: 10 a.m. Monday at Western Hills Church of Christ. Final resting place: Greenwood Memorial Park.
A longtime resident of Fort Worth, Bob lived in Benbrook and was a faithful member of Western Hills Church of Christ where he also served as an elder for many years.
Bob loved God, family, ice cream and travel. He worked for many years at General Dynamics and Lockheed eventually retiring from Lockheed in 1994. While physically able Bob enjoyed travel and experiencing new cultures. Bob stood on the Great Wall of China, lived and worked in Turkey for a time, walked the dusty roads in the holy city of Jerusalem, gazed at the pyramids in Egypt and visited many of the historic cities in Europe. In later years, Bob was unable to continue his travels but his love for God, family and ice cream held strong until the very end. While we rejoice that Bob is now with his Heavenly Father we will miss him greatly until we see him again.
"Don't let your hearts be troubled. Trust in God, and trust also in me. There is more than enough room in my Father's home. If this were not so, would I have told you that I am going to prepare a place for you? When everything is ready, I will come and get you, so that you will always be with me where I am... I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one can come to the Father except through me." -John 14:1-6
Survivors: His "big sister," Marilyn; his "little brother," Wendell; the father of four children, Kevin Whiting, Leann Holmes, David Whiting and Dianne Bunton; he was also a grandfather to 10 grandchildren.
